Hackney Co-operative Developments Community Interest Company is a not-for-profit organisation.
We have members, not shareholders.
Membership is open to anyone in Hackney who shares our goals, ethos and approach to community led economic regeneration.
Being a Community Interest Company (CIC) means our property portfolio is a protected Hackney community asset. It cannot be broken up for private gain but will be preserved to support local economic activity.
Every penny we make goes to improving life for the community in Hackney.
We invite all who share HCD’s purpose of community economic development to apply to join. As an HCD member, you will help develop enterprises that contribute to building a sustainable society with fair access to opportunities for all. The Company Secretary will inform you about our annual general meetings, public activities and services, and developments in the co-operative movement, the local community sector and the local area through member-only email newsletters and HCD’s website. You will be able to vote and stand in the annual election for General Council members, who are the company’s voluntary Board of Directors. The board, to which HCD’s paid staff are accountable, meets every quarter.
HCD’s governing body, the General Council, is currently reviewing the membership categories. No new applications will be considered until the review is completed. We thank you for your interest.
Once the review is completed, our membership application will be reopened.
